In the online healing and coaching business world, of which I guess I am a part of (aaack! WooHoo!), there are seemingly two schools of thought regarding pricing:
One says do not list your prices, you’ll scare people away, they need to understand what value you bring to understand the cost of what you do, get them on a call and hook them in, so to speak, and get them to say yes, and only then give them the price, take their credit card number and get the money.
The other says to list your prices, be authentic, provide value at whatever level of investment a potential client may be able to make, over deliver and under promise, and let the potential client seek you out, let them come to you when they are ready not only to make a financial commitment, but also a transformational commitment.
Can you guess which camp I’m in?
My biggest fear in being a business owner is that people will think I am a used car salesman. I HATE being sold to. I HATE the pitch and the hook and the avoiding answering questions of cost. I HATE having my desire for transformation or commitment to the program called into question when what I need to know is how much is it and do you have a payment plan. If I’m talking to you, I’m interested in what you’re selling or I wouldn’t be wasting my time. I assume most people are this way, too. Maybe I’m wrong.
Likely, I undersell myself all.the.time. (OK, not likely. I do.) I will always look for a way to help you if cost is a difficulty. I will give business away. Heck, I have literally given services away, hands on services that involved a large expenditure of my time and energy. That’s not a good way to stay in business and it leads to a lot of resentment, but I soooo don’t want to be ‘that person’, the used car salesman.
Know that when you look at my pricing that I have worked so hard on my own money and self-worth issues to come up with prices that I feel are a fair exchange of energy. The prices I charge reflect all of the education, training, actual time in session and expenditure of my personal energy into your healing. I give you 100% every single time. I am invested in your healing because I know that when you make the decision to heal, you need someone on your side to support you fully and walk alongside of you. I know I have a gift and it is my responsibility to share that gift of healing. It’s also my responsibility to make sure I take care of myself by guarding my energy AND receiving a fair exchange of energy from you in the form of your commitment to Self and money.
I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating: money is neither good or bad, it just is. It represents an exchange of energy - both parties should feel that a fair exchange has been made. When a price is higher, we tend to place more value and pay more attention to it than a low priced throw away item. Our nervous system then begins to pay more attention to the things we exchange more money for which, in the case of healing modalities, means we honor and pay attention to that modality, we protect our investment (in this case, ourSelf) more closely and we are less likely to harm or damage it.
Your health and healing are beyond valuable; they are priceless. When will you start treating yourself as valuable as your wedding ring or a treasured heirloom? You, my friend, are worth it.
So if you see my prices and think ‘too much’, I ask that you remember this post. I am honored and grateful that you are here. I want to help. And when you’re ready, I’ll be here.
